High Caffeine Levels in Energy Drinks May Harm Heart Health ⚠️

A new American Heart Association scientific statement suggests that most adults can safely consume up to 400 mg of caffeine daily, roughly equivalent to 3–5 cups of regular black coffee. However, much higher caffeine concentrations found in energy drinks and energy shots may increase blood pressure and raise the risk of abnormal heart rhythms. Energy shots can contain several times more caffeine per ounce than regular coffee. Researchers also note that caffeine affects people differently depending on genetics, age, medications, and health conditions. While moderate, unsweetened coffee may be linked to certain cardiovascular benefits, experts caution that high-dose caffeine products should be approached carefully.
