A preliminary study suggests that spending just 10 minutes on an evening skincare routine combined with gentle self-massage may help women sleep better and feel less anxious. After four weeks, participants reported improved sleep quality, reduced time to fall asleep, better mental well-being, and lower anxiety levels compared with those who maintained their usual routines. Exploratory wearable-device data also indicated longer total and deep sleep on rest days. However, the researchers caution that the study was small, non-randomized, and funded by a cosmetics company, making it impossible to determine whether the benefits came from the massage, skincare products, fragrance, or the relaxing bedtime routine itself.
